Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh Variants Secure 5-Star Safety Rating from Bharat NCAP

The Tata Nexon EV continues to raise the bar in the electric vehicle segment, now with enhanced safety credentials. The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) has officially extended its coveted 5-star safety rating to the Nexon EV’s newer variants featuring the 45 kWh battery pack.


All Tata Nexon EV Variants Now Rated 5-Star

Until recently, Bharat NCAP’s 5-star rating only covered the Nexon EV variants equipped with the 30 kWh and 40.5 kWh battery packs. However, Tata Motors’ decision to discontinue the 40.5 kWh version and introduce range-topping 45 kWh variants made a rating update essential. The new safety rating applies to Nexon EVs produced from March 2025 onwards.

The following variants with the 45 kWh battery are now covered under the 5-star safety rating:

  • Creative
  • Fearless
  • Empowered
  • Empowered+
  • Dark Edition
  • Red Dark Edition

Crash Test Scores: Impressive Safety Performance

In crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 29.86/32
    Adequate to good protection in both frontal and side-impact tests.
  • Child Occupant Protection: 44.95/49
    • 23.95/24 for child dummy safety in crash tests
    • 12/12 for child restraint system performance
    • 9/13 in vehicle assessment score

These scores underline Tata’s commitment to delivering both performance and peace of mind.


Performance and Pricing: A Powerful Upgrade

The Nexon EV’s 45 kWh battery delivers 148 bhp, a boost of 5 bhp over the older 40.5 kWh variant, while retaining the same 215 Nm torque. In comparison:

  • 30 kWh variant: 127 bhp
  • 45 kWh variant: 148 bhp

Price Range: ₹12.49 lakh to ₹17.19 lakh (ex-showroom)
