Cars24 Acquires Team-BHP

2 Min Read

In a major development in India’s auto ecosystem, used-car marketplace Cars24 has acquired the iconic automotive forum Team-BHP. The deal was announced on Wednesday, although the financial terms remain undisclosed.

Team-BHP to Remain Independent with Zero-Sponsored Content Policy

According to an official statement, Team-BHP will continue to function independently with its founding team at the helm. The platform has built a reputation for authentic, community-driven content and has long maintained a zero-sponsored content policy, refusing advertisements from automobile manufacturers to ensure unbiased reviews and discussions. That commitment will remain intact post-acquisition.

New Chapter for Team-BHP with Cars24’s Tech & Data Capabilities

Team-BHP founder Rush Parekh commented on the partnership, saying,

“With CARS24 backing us, and their technology and data layered into our platform, we can now build with more scale, more depth, and more intent.”

Cars24 aims to use its deep tech infrastructure and data intelligence to enhance Team-BHP’s platform capabilities and introduce new features that improve the overall user experience.

Part of a Larger Industry Trend

This acquisition reflects a broader trend in the Indian used-car industry, where platforms are seeking to merge commerce with credible content. Just last month, another major used-car platform, Spinny, acquired the Indian automotive media business of Haymarket SAC, publisher of Autocar India. That deal was a mix of cash and equity and marked the growing convergence of automotive commerce and content in India.

What This Means for Users and the Industry

For users, this means a more robust and feature-rich Team-BHP, without compromising its core values. For Cars24, it marks a strategic leap towards community building and content credibility, helping it stand out in a competitive used-car market.

The acquisition sets the stage for a more informed car-buying journey, where commerce and community go hand-in-hand.
