India’s First Turbo CNG

Twin-Cylinder CNG Technology

The Tata Nexon CNG will incorporate a cutting-edge twin-cylinder CNG system, allowing it to retain a significant portion of its boot space. This technology uses two 60-litre cylinders placed parallel to each other, maintaining a practical boot space of 230 litres. This design not only ensures ample storage but also integrates discreetly, allowing for additional storage solutions and an underbody spare wheel.

Enhanced Features and Specifications

The CNG variant of the Nexon will build on Tata’s proven track record with CNG models. It will feature:

  • Micro switch for enhanced safety
  • Six-point cylinder mounting setup for stability
  • Single ECU unit for streamlined operation
  • High-quality materials for durability

The Nexon CNG will be powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol engine, recalibrated for improved fuel efficiency. This engine, normally producing 120 PS and 170 Nm, will be adjusted to deliver lower power and torque, and will be available with either a five-speed manual transmission or an automated manual transmission.

Pricing and Competition of India’s First Turbo CNG

The Tata Nexon CNG is expected to be priced Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 80,000 higher than its standard variants. It will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, offering consumers a more fuel-efficient and spacious option in the compact SUV segment.
