Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce its next-generation CLA sedan in India in early 2026. The vehicle was globally unveiled on March 13, showcasing its all-electric and hybrid powertrain options. This launch marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time the CLA will be available in a fully electric variant. Upon its arrival, the CLA will replace the A-Class sedan, though specific details about the Indian-spec model are yet to be disclosed.

Platform & Powertrain Options

The new CLA is built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, primarily designed for electric vehicles while also accommodating internal combustion engines. The base hybrid model is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine, supported by a 1.3-kWh battery and a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Additionally, an integrated 27-bhp electric motor enhances performance, working in conjunction with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Range & Charging Capabilities

The rear-wheel-drive model offers an impressive range of up to 792 kilometers on the WLTP cycle, while the all-wheel-drive version can cover 771 kilometers on a full charge. With 800-volt technology, the CLA supports ultra-fast DC charging, delivering up to 325 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes using a 320 kW charger.

Design & Exterior Styling

The new CLA retains many design elements from its concept version, featuring an aerodynamic silhouette with smooth, flowing lines. The electric variant boasts a distinctive illuminated front panel with 142 LED-lit Mercedes-Benz stars and an illuminated central logo. In contrast, the hybrid models sport a more conventional grille with chrome accents and LED lighting.
