MG Motor India is set to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the upcoming launch of the Windsor EV on September 11, 2024. This new offering, known as the Cloud EV in other markets, promises to bridge the gap between the Comet EV and ZS EV in MG’s electric car lineup.

The Windsor EV is expected to come with two battery pack options:
- A 37.9kWh battery with a claimed range of 360km
- A 50.6kWh battery boasting a range of 460km
Powering the vehicle is a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 134hp. However, it remains to be seen which version will be available in the Indian market.
Design and Dimensions
The Windsor EV blends the characteristics of a large hatchback and an MPV, measuring approximately 4.3 meters in length with a 2,700mm wheelbase. Despite its MPV-like stance, it will be offered in a 5-seat configuration only.

Inside, the Windsor EV boasts:
- A large floating touchscreen
- Minimal physical switchgear
- Rear AC vents
- Three-passenger rear seat with dedicated three-point seat belts
- Rear center armrest
- Faux leather seats with honeycomb pattern stitching
- Reclining rear seats (up to 135 degrees)
Pricing and Competition
MG aims to price the Windsor EV under Rs 20 lakh, positioning it below the ZS EV in their lineup. This strategic pricing pits it against formidable competitors such as the:

- Mahindra XUV400
- Newly launched Tata Curvv EV
