Kia has officially taken the wraps off the hatchback version of its K4 nameplate at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. While the sedan version is already available in some global markets, this is the first full reveal of the hatchback — and it’s clear Kia has set its sights on the Volkswagen Golf.
All About Kia K4 Hatchback
Two Petrol Engine Options, Including a Turbocharged Unit
Under the hood, the Kia K4 hatchback offers two engine options:
- 2.0L Naturally Aspirated Petrol: Produces 147hp and 179Nm torque, mated to Kia’s IVT transmission.
- 1.6L Turbocharged Petrol: Delivers a punchy 190hp and 264Nm torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Kia will offer the hatchback in three variants — EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo — with the GT-Line versions getting a sports-tuned suspension for enhanced handling.
Smart Cabin Packed with Tech
Inside, the K4 hatchback gets a tech-loaded cabin that mirrors its sedan sibling. Highlights include:
- Dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation
- A 5-inch HVAC display
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (standard)
- 360-degree camera, Harman Kardon sound system
- Heated and ventilated front seats, sunroof, OTA updates
- 29 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety
Sleek Exterior and Compact Footprint
While the front retains the design DNA of the sedan — with EV9-inspired vertically stacked LED headlights and T-shaped DRLs — the hatchback distinguishes itself from the side.
It is 279mm shorter than the sedan, measuring 4,431mm in length, with a more compact and modern profile thanks to the integrated rear spoiler and exclusive Sparkling Yellow paint option.
Class-Leading Boot Space
One of the biggest highlights of the Kia K4 hatchback is its practicality. It offers:
- 628 litres of boot space — over 52% more than the sedan
- Expandable to a massive 1,679 litres with the rear seats folded
This gives the K4 a significant edge over its rivals when it comes to cargo-carrying capacity.
Kia K4 Hatchback: A Stylish, Tech-Savvy and Spacious Challenger
With its sporty looks, advanced features, turbocharged performance, and class-leading boot space, the Kia K4 hatchback positions itself as a compelling new entrant in the premium hatchback segment. As it gears up for launch in North America, the Middle East, and Asia later this year, it will be exciting to see how it fares against established rivals like the Volkswagen Golf.
