Key Upgrades: Suspension and Weight Reduction
The Hypermotard 950 SP is the most advanced model in Ducati’s Hypermotard lineup, featuring several premium components. The most significant upgrade is the addition of Ohlins suspension at both the front and rear, replacing the Marsocchi/Sachs setup found on the standard model. The Ohlins USD fork is now a beefier 48mm unit (up from 45mm), with front wheel travel increased from 170mm to 185mm. Similarly, the Ohlins monoshock boosts rear wheel travel from 150mm to 175mm. Additionally, the SP is equipped with lighter Marchesini forged wheels, contributing to a 2kg weight reduction. Despite this, the Hypermotard still weighs over 200kg with a full 14.5-liter fuel tank. The seat height has also been raised by 20mm to 890mm, due to the enhanced suspension travel
Chassis and Braking: Unchanged but Enhanced
While there are no modifications to the chassis or braking system, the SP stands out with its sticky Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres, a step up from the Pirelli Rosso 3s on the RVE. The 937cc L-twin engine remains unchanged, delivering 114hp and 96Nm of torque. Although this engine is used across various Ducati models, it is tuned to be the most aggressive and produces the most intense exhaust note in the Hypermotard, as experienced during our ride of the Hypermotard RVE.

Visuals and Pricing
Visually, the Hypermotard 950 SP mirrors the RVE model, save for its distinctive SP graphics and unique Marchesini wheel design. Priced at Rs 19.05 lakh, the SP is Rs 3 lakh more expensive than the Hypermotard RVE. It ranks as the third most costly Ducati equipped with the 937cc L-twin engine, even surpassing the DesertX and Multistrada V2 S, with only the SuperSport S and DesertX Rally being pricier.
Market Position: Ultra-Exclusive Offering
The Hypermotard 950 SP serves as a highly exclusive variant of an already niche motorcycle. It’s encouraging to see Ducati India provide customers with the opportunity to own such a specialized machine.
Conclusion
The Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP stands out as a premium, performance-focused addition to the Hypermotard lineup in India, offering advanced components like Ohlins suspension and Marchesini wheels, along with a distinct design and aggressive tuning. While its higher price point and niche appeal may limit its audience, it provides an exclusive option for enthusiasts seeking top-tier performance and unique styling in the hypermotard category, solidifying Ducati’s commitment to catering to passionate riders in India.
